Construction Process Start to Finish

Below is a detailed overview of the construction steps involved in bringing your dream home to life, from start to finish:

Initial Contact & Consultation

  • Initial meeting to discuss:

    • Project goals and vision.

    • Budget and financial considerations.

    • Desired location or plot of land (if not already secured).

    • Timeline and potential challenges.

  • Company explains the process, services, and offers initial advice.

Design Phase

  • Client selects or provides design preferences (architectural style, size, layout).

  • Client works with Oostburg Lumber architect to create custom home plans.

  • Collaboration between customer, architect, and builder to refine the design.

    • Floor plans, elevations, interior features, etc.

  • Finalization of designs and key elements.

  • Customer reviews and approves final plans.

Permitting & Legal Approvals

  • The builder applies for necessary permits (zoning, construction, environmental, etc.).

  • Local authorities review and approve the designs and plans.

Changes or adjustments are made if the permits are not approved.

Groundwork & Foundation

  • Excavation and laying of the foundation (slab, crawl space, basement, etc.).

  • Installation of plumbing and electrical infrastructure within the foundation.

  • Foundation inspection and approval before moving on.

Roofing, Siding & Exterior Finishes

  • Roofing installed (shingles or metal).

  • Exterior siding or cladding applied.

  • Installation of windows and doors.

Final Inspections

  • Local authorities conduct inspections for safety and building code compliance.

  • Any required adjustments or fixes made before final approval.

  • Final quality checks by builder to ensure everything is up to standard.

Walkthrough & Customer Approval

  • Final touch-ups and adjustments are made.

  • Site visit to assess land (if the customer owns a plot).

  • Considerations for zoning, land slope, accessibility, etc.

  • Discussions about utilities, road access, and other site-specific factors.

Budget & Contract Negotiation

  • Detailed estimate and breakdown of costs (materials, labor, permits, etc.).

  • Discussion of payment schedule (deposit, progress payments, final payment).

Landscaping & Exterior Completion
